teacher and student bricklaying course

Edith’s Hope funds a residential vocational school for orphaned children to learn skills that will empower them to earn a wage in order to support themselves and their families.

The school supports orphaned children from the child-headed families programme as well as many other orphaned children from nearby communities.

Around 80 children attend and live at the school during term time, learning vocational skills such as bricklaying, cement work, tailoring, and carpentry. Each student graduates with a starter pack of tools to allow them to immediately pursue their trade.

Our ambition is to expand the curriculum to keep pace with the changing economy of Uganda, adding new courses with modern skills.
